Prior to painting, I was a tapestry weaver. The paintings always start out as loose pencil or watercolor sketches, but patterns continue to show up in my work. These sketches are then translated into my memories of landscapes and other organic layers and shapes. The structure, layering, brushwork and mood are as important as color to create a feeling. I try to develop a look that has enough body, but is not overtly sentimental. I also like to juxtapose perspective and direction. I work toward expression and the non-literal natural world; exploring form and structure, painted in and painted out, to arrive at a cohesive whole.
Hunters work is displayed in several corporate collections including Sterling Drug, Chugai-Upjohn, Ernst and Young, Satellite Health Care of Mountain View, California, and the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. One of her tapestries was included in a show entitled "Significant Colorado Women Artists of the 20th Century" which traveled around the western region and to the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C.
